The 25th Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF), one of the world's premier animation events,
opened on October 20th, bringing together a diverse selection of animation films from 30 countries.
The festival, which has a rich history of showcasing innovative and artistic animated works, attracted
more than 100 attendees at the opening ceremony. Among the notable guests were acclaimed directors
John Musker, who directed the movie, 'The Little Mermaid', Kotono Watanabe, director of 'Land of Gold
and Water'; and Shoji Kawamori, director of 'Macross.'
The opening film, 'Robot Dreams,' directed by Pablo Berger, had its first screening at the Cannes Film
Festival earlier this year. It is among the 118 films from 36 countries being showcased at the festival.
Additionally, the domestic animation work "Agami" (co-produced by NAMU Animation and Pencil and
Meditation) is being displayed for free on the first floor at the Korea Cartoon Museum.
The BIAF will run for five days, until October 24th, at various venues including CGV Bucheon, Korea
Cartoon Museum, and Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch. This year's event is expected to
continue its tradition of celebrating creativity and innovation in the animation industry.
